what are open source technologies? |
|
How does withinsight technologies create interactive websites that are so affordable? We do this by using open-source CMS technologies like Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress.
If you haven't heard of open-source CMS's, here's the basic jist:
Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress are all types of open-source, database-driven Content Management Systems (CMS). CMS sites are those in which the user can log in and easily edit text, upload pictures, add news items, blog, add events -- all without having to know HTML. You've probably already used a CMS site numerous times before (paying bills online, using online calendars, uploading pictures to a printing service, online banking, blogging, Facebooking, etc) so we know you're already an expert.

Who wants a free website? |

What I usually find (after several back-and-forths) is that many believe starting a business is as simple as creating a website, a sort of "build it and they will come" approach to business. Alas, my friends, such is not the case. So, prior to talking websites, let's talk about everyone's favorite topic: marketing. Here's the new set of questions to ask yourself, oh fledgling entreprenuer: - Is there a market for this service?
- If there is, how do I reach them in the cheapest way possible?
- If there's not, how do I find that out in the cheapest way possible?

To find a good designer, you first need to be clear on:
- What your product / service is
- Who your desired audience is
- What you want your site to do (eg, sell a product? advertise a service? act as an aggregator of other sites' products? etc)
- Your budget
